GOOD LUCK, FRED! is the perfect musical for people who have retired, or who look forward to retirement someday.
Fred Perkins has looked forward to his retirement for thirty-seven years. Now that it's here, the trouble is he has spent so much time figuring out how to pay for it that he has spent almost no time figuring out what todo with it.
Ruth, Fred's wife, has a problem too. She doesn't know what to do with Fred.
Together they explore the precarious, and in this case, hilarious world of the retiree. They investigate moving to Florida, with its moist pitfalls. They go on a bus tour, and spend it in line for the rear-of-the-bus facility. They take a cruise, and pay the price exacted from captive audiences. And all along the way they are hit with every fraudulent scam that retirees today are routinely subjected to.
To fill his time, Fred tries activities like fishing, following a local softball team, and assembling products at home. But to Ruth's despair, nothing holds Fred's interest for long.
Finally Ruth hits on an idea that turns Fred's dreary days into golden years, as you will discover when you investigate GOOD LUCK, FRED! which require a cast of only four actors and a minimal set.
